Prof. Dr. Inge Geraerts

Prof. Inge Geraerts obtained her master's degree in Rehabilitation Sciences and her PhD degree (2013) in Biomedical Sciences in Leuven (BE). She performs research in the field of pelvic reeducation. The research group pelvic reeducation aims to study the effectivity of pelvic reeducation and perinatal physiotherapy regarding urinary, fecal and sexual dysfunctions in oncological and other populations. For this purpose, the group undertakes mainly clinical studies in close collaboration with different departments of the Biomedical Sciences Group and the University Hospitals Leuven. Prof Inge Geraerts and her team were involved in several projects regarding the optimization of the physiotherapeutic treatment of continence and sexual problems in patients after prostate and rectal cancer treatment, in close collaboration with the University Hospitals Leuven.  From her experiences as a clinician, Inge strives to set up studies with an immediate clinical impact for the patient.
